Get Involved · Become a Mentor

Guide a young woman through mentorship.

Girls Mentor Girls is recruiting female-identifying young women to serve as mentors for our GMG family.

What being a mentor means

Who we are

GMG is a grassroots organization started in the Bronx. Our mission is to empower female-identifying BIPOC youth through peer mentoring, exercising social skills, and building sisterhood with each other in a confidential, judgment-free environment.

We host meetings, workshops, and events, as well as offering resources to nurture the present and support the futures of the members of our program.

As a mentor, you'll be paired with a mentee for one-on-one and peer mentoring. Mentors and mentees make contact at least once a week, and the goal is a relationship that lasts — ideally through the mentee's high school graduation.

Qualifications & responsibilities

  • Ages 18–30
  • Able to commit to being a mentor for at least 1 year
  • Willing to encourage and be a source of understanding for younger people
  • Able to attend peer and individual mentoring sessions with your assigned mentee
